There’s nothing wrong with a night out at the bar with friends, or for whatever sports game could be airing at the time, but you need to know when to say when. That means knowing how not to overdo it, and knowing when not to drive house as well. You don’t want to get into an accident, get a ticket, or lose your license.
For one thing, it’s important to understand the fact that you don’t need to get drunk to have fun. And you don’t need to drink just because you go to a bar, unless it’s a classy joint with a one drink minimum. If that’s the case, do the one drink and then switch to water.
Set A Drinking Limit
Start out by setting a limit for how much you will allow yourself to drink. You don’t want to drink so much that it is considered binge drinking, and you don’t want to drink a lot in a little time and then try to drive home. Alcohol abuse, like binge drinking, is on the rise. If you decide on two drinks, spread them out and drink them slowly and you’ll feel like you’re having more.
People with health issues, like high blood pressure, should be limiting the amount of alcohol they consume anyhow. Maybe two for a guy and only one for a woman, to stay heart healthy and sober.
Leave Bank credit cards At Home
If you leave your credit house and you simply bring with you enough cash for the amount of drinks you originally planned to drink, you’ll save yourself money and from getting drunk as well. If you’re going to a bar you frequent you probably already know how much you need for what you need.
Take A Buddy
You may want to have a trusted friend with you at the bar, someone that can tell you when it is time to stop drinking. Make sure it’s someone you are willing to listen to, and not someone that may try to get you to drink more. Drinking buddies also make the night more fun, even when you aren’t getting drunk.
Have A Designated Driver
Just in case all of these things don’t work, you should have a designated driver with you, or the number to a cab company. Don’t drive drunk. Sometimes tension from a tough day, or life in general, can make imbibing at a minimum difficult to do, so be prepared.
Just remember, if you want to be healthier, and safer, cut back on how much you drink, and find other ways to have fun when you’re at the bar with friends. Take a deck of cards or something!
