Salmon

Not all healthy foods fit into the categories of fruits and vegetables. This fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that aid in keeping your skin moisturized from the inside out, and also helps keep your hair healthy and shiny.

Salmon is great fresh and can even be enjoyed on the grill. However, you can find it canned also and enjoy it on some whole grain crackers.

Berries

Berries are excellent sources of antioxidants. Antioxidants work through the system to help remove toxins from your body. All berries are a great choice to get this healthy benefit, from blueberries to raspberries.

Berries are great alone or blended along with yogurt, or in a healthy smoothie along with some almond milk.

Nuts

Most nuts are rich in healthy oils and even vitamin E. Almonds are a great choice for vitamin E rich goodness. According to Viva Glam Magazine, vitamin E is excellent for healthy skin, nails and hair.

Add nuts to any salad for an extra boost of energy too.

Leafy Greens

The vitamins in leafy greens can also help your body look healthy on the outside. Spinach is rich in vitamin A and a deficiency in this particular vitamin can cause your hair and nails to be brittle.

Leafy greens are great in a salad or on a turkey burger.

Calcium

Find a healthy source of calcium, which helps keep your nails growing strong and will also help keep your teeth looking brighter. Opt for a choice like yogurt or Greek yogurt, rather than drinking milk or eating cheese.

Try making scrambled eggs along with something a little different, like tomatoes, feta cheese and diced up spinach.

Eggs

Vitamin B, or Biotin, can be found in lots of animal bi-products, including eggs. Biotin is needed by the hair, skin and nails to be healthy and vibrant. If you’re not a meat eater, you can also find this in asparagus.

While all of these items can be found in supplement form, it’s always better to eat the real foods they come from. You get a fresher and healthier dose this way. Plus, it helps you expand your palate a little bit more and enjoy some different foods.

Try creating different meals using all sorts of different healthy food options, like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats. They all contain vitamins and nutrients that do the body good, both inside and out.
